Joseph Tovares is the Senior Vice President for Diversity and Innovation at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He oversees a portfolio focused on diversity content projects, a diversity focused digital multicast channel, and training and professional development. He works closely with system partners (ITVS, PBS, the World Channel, major producers, and independent producers) on the development of content for public media.

 

Joseph has a background in production and worked as a writer, director, producer, executive producer. His work spans both traditional and emerging media. Tovares is a member of the Writers Guild of America, and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

 

Tovares represented U.S. public media in 2012 at the Foro Latinoamericano Sobre Medios Públicos in San Salvador, El Salvador and in Mexico City in 2015, He presented, with the BBC, at the Seminario: Dos Modelos de Televisión Pública in Santiago, Chile in 2013.
